The meet-up began with a question from the host- “Why are we talking about the ‘Digital World’, today?” They then continued to say, “Digital world is the next step: At the beginning our society was paperless, then paper was invented from barks of trees, massive computers replaced the paper from barks, massive computers were then again dominated by hand-held computers and now, we have virtual realities- digital holographic avatars and so on.”
We at the VONG movement conducted a panel discussion session on the topic ‘Sexism in Schools’ and discussed the same. We delved into the effects of this sexism, and how we can work towards reducing and eventually eradicating it. We understood just how urgent the situation is and how we need to work towards it.
“What is evolution?”, “Are humans also animals?”, “Is “speciesism” justified? and, “Is there a connection between ecological biodiversity and human existence?” The answers to these questions were formulated through a series of innovative knowledge-induced videos and opinions towards the same. This meet-up left us not only enriched with new pieces of knowledge and facts but also left us feeling whole with a bunch of inquisitions that were responded to.
The VONG movement had conducted a symposium on the topic ‘INTROSPECTING INTERCONNECTIONS’. The session involved a series of short videos which were played for the vongsters and were followed by a round of discussion on the content and underlying meaning of the video.
VONG SDG Café conducted the live event on ZOOM platform with Aashutosh Singal and Abhinav Seth as our guest speakers. Few questions related to youth and its importance to world were asked from the guest speakers. Live events, webinars and discussions with experts on this pressing societal and environmental problem is the very first step taken by ‘VONG’ to make the youth conscious about these environmental issues and further encourage them to self-learn and reflect their opinions in the society through our platform.
